Welcome to RMS Band!
This ensemble is made up of all the 6th Grade Band students (woodwind, brass, and percussion sections). 6th Grade Band meets 3 times per week during the school day.
The 6th Grade Band will participate in a Fall Concert, I Love America Day Performance, Holiday Concert, and a Spring Concert. They will also perform at certain school functions within the school day. There will be some after school rehearsals before upcoming concerts.
The rehearsals and concerts are mandatory events that contribute to the student's grade for the class.
Students will need to wear CONCERT BLACK for all concerts, unless told otherwise beforehand. (Concert Black: Black pants or long black skirt or dress, dress shirt or blouse tucked in, black dress shoes...no jeans, no tennis shoes, no open-toed shoes, no "pops" of color)
Instruments are assigned from those listed by the student on the class request form each year. Although many large instruments are available to check-out from RMS, it is recommended that students rent or purchase an instrument. Instruments do not need to be brand new, they just need to be in good working order. See Mrs. Woodring for help in the rental or purchasing process! If using a school instrument, please check with Mrs. Woodring for availability. You will be responsible for purchasing your own mouthpiece for that instrument.
The $150 Band Fee for this ensemble includes the music, band t-shirts, concert facility rentals, sheet music for performances, additional educational instruction for students, travel expenses, as well as the purchase and maintenance of band equipment.
Please let Mrs. Woodring know if you have any questions! It's going to be a great year!
Please contact Mr. Hopper if you need to discuss your student's attendance, instrument assignment, progress, or any other aspect of 6th grade band.
