Welcome Back!
If you're new to RMS Band, WELCOME! This is my third year at Riverdale, and I LOVE being a Raider! If you're a returning band member, welcome back! We have got some exciting events coming up this year!
The 7th & 8th Grade Band is made up of all 7th and 8th Grade Band students (woodwind, brass, and percussion sections). 7th and 8th Grade classes meet separately during the school day and come together for after school rehearsals and performances.
7th & 8th Grade Band members will participate in various performances throughout the year, including Fall Concert, I Love America Day Performance, Holiday Concert, All-West Auditions & Festival, Concert Festival, Spring Concert, Spring Trip, and other performances that will take place during the school day at RMS.
Uniform for performances is CONCERT BLACK, unless told otherwise. (Concert Black: Black dress pants or long black skirt or dress, black dress shirt or blouse tucked in, black dress shoes - No jeans, No tennis shoes, No open-toed shoes, No "pops" of color)
Instruments are assigned from those listed by the student on the class request form each year. Students new to band will receive notification of their instrument assignment before the school year begins and are required to secure this instrument unless told otherwise. It is strongly recommended to purchase or rent an instrument. Once a student is advancing on a beginner instrument, it is suggested that they "step-up" to a more professional model of instrument. We will have a Step-Up Instrument Night during the school year for those that are interested in trying, renting, or purchasing a step-up instrument. If you ever need help regarding an instrument rental or purchase, please let Mrs. Woodring know!
The $150 Band Fee for 7th & 8th Grade Band purchases music, band t-shirts, concert facility rentals, sheet music for performances, festival and competition entrance fees, additional educational instruction for students, travel expenses, as well as the purchase and maintenance of band equipment.
Please let Mrs. Woodring know if you have any questions!
